What is Mould Remediation?

Mould remediation is considered the removal, cleaning and decontamination of mould affected structural areas and contents/furniture items.

The process can be quite complex, so engaging a certified firm is imperative in successfully completing a biohazard mould decontamination project.

Not every mould cleaning company can claim to be certified in Mould Remediation, however we are proud to say Metro Restorers is internationally certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning & Restoration, Interactive Training Institute and The Restoration Sciences Academy.

Why is Mould Remediation and Containment So Important?

The most important reason is that Mycotoxins found in and released by settled or colonised mould spores can have an extremely negative effects on your overall health and wellbeing, in particular asthmatics and anyone who is immune suppressed or compromised.  That’s why it is critical to isolate and remove the mould as soon as possible and stop the risk of even further contamination.

Cross-contamination into other living or working areas, if not contained, can lead to more costly issues in your home or office.

Mould Removal Costs

There is no set pricing available, as all mould contamination issues are different.

However, we can tailor an extensive report and scope of works, that will assist in the primary identification, source, cause and final eradication of the mould contamination in your home and workplace.

The Mould Removal Process

  • Firstly, we test for areas of moisture in the premises that create the environment for mould to grow.
  • Next, we take surface and air samples to measure the extent of mould contamination.
  • We compare it with a sample from an uncontaminated area. Or outside to create a benchmark measurement.
  • We then discuss the data collected from the testing.
  • Provide a cleaning recommendation based on the results. Including where decontamination is needed and where it’s not.
  • Lastly, we prepare a plan to remove the mould contamination and identifying how the moisture issue, causing the mould growth, can be isolated permanently.
